Privacy
Hortagora is a trade platform, not a consumer product. The personal information we handle is almost entirely the business-contact information of trade professionals. We don't advertise to you, we don't sell your information, and the commercial data on the platform — availability, prices, orders — is business data governed by the membership agreements, not this policy.
What we collect
When you apply for membership: your name, business name and address, email, phone, province, website, any social profiles you choose to add, the description of your business you provide, and whether you're applying to sell or to buy. To keep the sign-up secure, we also process your IP address (to limit abusive sign-up attempts) and a bot-protection check (Cloudflare Turnstile).
How we use it
To evaluate your membership application, run your account, and — if you gave the separate consent at sign-up — contact you about your account and orders. You can withdraw that consent at any time; verification, security, and service messages are not marketing.
What we never do
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not disclose one member's identifiable commercial activity to another; anything shared across the platform is aggregated and anonymized first.
Where it's stored
Our hosting, database, and email providers operate in the United States, so your information is stored and processed there. It is protected under this policy and our provider agreements wherever it sits.
Cookies
A session cookie to keep you signed in, what's needed for security, and your language and theme preferences. No advertising or cross-site tracking.
How long we keep it
Account information for the life of your account plus the period the law requires. If your application is declined, we delete its details and keep only the minimum needed to enforce the decision — your email and the decision itself; abandoned applications are deleted entirely.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, withdraw consent, or ask for it in a portable form. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can escalate to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
Who answers for this
Derek King, founder, is Hortagora's privacy officer. Reach him through the contact page. If there's ever a breach that puts you at risk, we'll notify you and the regulators as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll tell you by email before the change takes effect.
